Eye pencils or Eye liners are probably the first thing that I try and test at any makeup counter. I have loved Faces Colored Long wear eye Pencils and Colorbar Just Smoky Kohl Eye Pencils have been superb too but the prices are on a higher side, so today I have an amazing eye pencils at an affordable price to share with you, Essence Gel Eye pencil Waterproof – Urban Jungle
Product Claims: The latest trend from Asia: gel eyeliner in a pen-shape. Instead of in a tub, the soft, waterproof and long-lasting texture of the gel eye pencil waterproof comes in a retractable pen. velvety and highly-pigmented, these pens offer intensive eyeliner styles.

Packaging:- Essence Gel Eye Pencil comes in a sleek black plastic body with colored cap. The best part is the pencil has a nice twist-up mechanism and I don’t need to run for sharpeners after every usage. The cap shuts tightly and the packaging is sturdy enough to be thrown in the handbag.
My experience with Essence Gel Eye pencil Waterproof Urban Jungle:-
Shade: Urban Jungle is a bright teal green eye liner with subtle metallic sheen. There are very fine gold shimmers that can be barely detected that adds to the lovely shine the liner imparts on application. The shade works wonderfully on warm Indian skin tones and brightens up the eyes instantly. It is an easy wearable shade that can be pulled off by anyone.
Texture: Essence Gel Eye pencil has a buttery smooth texture. It is not as soft as Colorbar Just smoky eyes which literally melt on eyes but it doesn’t tug or pull during application. The tip doesn’t break during application and the fine tip gives a precise application until it blunts out.
Pigmentation: Essence Gel Eye pencil have intensely pigmented formula which gives a rich color pay off in just two swipes. It goes absolutely opaque on lids and can be used on lower lash line as well. I have used it on waterline and it did show well but I won’t recommend using it as kohl as it is not mentioned to be used as Kohl.
Staying Power: Essence Gel liner quickly sets to a smudge proof finish and lasts whole day on lids. Though if you are wearing a creamy concealer underneath. I would suggest patting it down with a powder before applying liner as the liner gets slippery over that creamy layer causing it to smudge slightly and reducing its longevity on lids. On upper lash line it lasts 4-5 hours after which it fades slightly but doesn’t transfer much on the crease area, though on lower lash line it start to transfer after 3-4 hours depending on how oily is your skin. 😛

- Not ultra soft ( but still quite soft for easy application)
- Transfers slightly on lower lash line
- Couldn’t find the shade name over the packaging
Recommendation:- Essence Gel Eye pencil Waterproof Urban Jungle is a dark forest green shade with a gel like shine. The formula is immensely pigmented and has a soft and smooth texture that gives an easy application and goes opaque in 2 swipes. The liner quickly sets to a transfer-proof smudge-proof finish which lasts whole day on me with slight fading a wee bit of transfer when used on lower lash line. The liner has impressed with it quality at the price tag. It doesn’t have any waxy feel like Lakme Eyeconic Kohl and apply much more smoothly.Highly recommended!
