Dove Damage Therapy – Daily Shine Shampoo Review

Dove Damage Therapy – Daily Shine Shampoo Review

I will review the one and only product that I have started using based on my hubby’s recommendation  😀 . I have used Dove shampoos in the past but was not much happy with the results so discontinued. I am facing severe dandruff issue which is causing me lots of hair fall. I am quite satisfied with “Matrix Ultra Hydrating Shampoo” but it does nothing to control dandruff and hence hair fall.

I was on the look out for a new shampoo but my hubby insisted me to give Dove Daily Shine Shampoo a try. He swears by this shampoo and budge to try anything else on his hair. I gave in and decided to give Dove Shampoo another try.

Product Claims:

Direction for Use:- Apply to wet hair, lather, rinse and repeat.  They recommend using it daily.

Ingredients:- Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Dimethiconol and Trideceth-10 and TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Gycol Distearate, Perfume, Gylcerine, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Amodimethicone and Cetrimonium Chloride and Trideceth-12, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Mica and Titanium Dioxide, Disodium EDTA, PEG-45M, DMDM Hydantoin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Methylchloroisothiazzolinone and Methylisothiazolinone, CI 15985, CI 19140.

Price:- Rs 205/- for 375 ml

Shelf Life:-  24 months from the Mfg date.

Packaging:- The shampoo comes in an opaque long white colored plastic bottle with a flip cap. The cap has dove motif engraves on it. The bottle is sturdy and easy to use. The only thing that I feel can be improved in packaging is its shape (OMG.. is it too much that I am saying this) .

I like the shapes that can be kept upside down and I don’t have to wait for ages to get the product out. Such packaging really sorts out this problem especially when you are nearing the end of the product. As, it is an opaque bottle I am also not able to see the amount left in it.

Available in 5 variants:-

  1. Dove Intense Repair
  2. Dove Hair Fall Rescue
  3. Dove Daily Shine
  4. Dove Dryness acre
  5. Dove Dandruff care

My experience with Dove Daily Shine Shampoo:-

Usually I oil my hair before shampooing but this summers I have been sweating like anything. It’s so hot out here that I can’t dare to step out of AC even for a minute but there is no way that you can skip-off kitchen or other household chores or have the leisure of cooking in AC (DreamzZzZ..).  All this heat and sweat made my hair sticky and I dare not oil my hair before shampoo. So, this time I wanted a more moisturizing shampoo for my dry hair and hence tried “Dove Daily Shine Shampoo”

Texture:-The shampoo has quite a runny consistency which rushes out of the opening when you try to pour it in your hands. The liquid is white in color with lots of shimmers, which are milled beautifully and doesn’t make their presence felt at all. It has a rich creamy texture with thousands of shimmers mixed in it.

Swatches:

Fragrance:-The shampoo has a fragrance which I completely adore. I enjoy shampooing with its refreshing fragrance. The fragrance lingers on for few hours even after rinsing off the shampoo.

Effect:- The shampoo spreads easily onto the scalp and gives a rich creamy lather. I need only double the coin sized amount of the shampoo for my shoulder length hair. It gets rinsed –off pretty quickly without leaving any traces. It cleaned up all the dirt and oil from my hair in a single wash and gave a squeaky clean feeling. It also provided the some nourishment to my hair and added shine to my dull looking hair.

I followed it up with my “Enliven Red Apple and Raspberry Conditioner”, and rinsed –off with plain water. My hair felt immensely soft and smooth immediately after wash. This time it didn’t weighed down my hair and they looked good even after 2 days of hair wash.

Pros of Dove Daily Shine Shampoo:-

  1. Consistency is easy to work with.
  2. Gives a good lather and hence only small amount of the shampoo is required for single application
  3. Lovely fragrance
  4. Rinses-off completely without leaving any residue behind
  5. Hair feels soft post-wash but it is temporaray
  6. Reasonably priced
  7. Free from Parabens

Cons of Dove Daily Shine Shampoo:-

  1. Not a herbal shampoo so contains lots of chemicals and also Silicones.
  2. Weigh down hairs the very next day of hair-wash if used on oily hairs or followed with heavy conditioning.
  3. Doesn’t help much in controlling dandruff but I think I have to try its Dandruff care shampoo for that.

Recommendation:- Those you are looking for a nice moisturizing shampoo for their dull and frizzy hair, Dove Daily Shine shampoo can be given a try. It gives a good lather and cleanses hair well removing all the impurities from the scalp. It is a decent enough shampoo which nourishes my hair well, imparts healthy shine and makes them soft to touch.

But if you have oily hair or prefer oiling before hair wash then you might not like its results as it weighs down hair significantly. The shampoo also contains silicones which is a controversial ingredient in hair care products I am using it for the time being and will be switching to a proper dandruff-control shampoo soon.

Rating:- 3.8/5
