My experience with NYX Studio Perfect Photo-Loving Primer Lavender:-

NYX Primer in Lavender has slightly thick gel based creamy texture which it spreads easily giving a smooth and even finish to the skin. The primer is lilac colored cream but goes clear when blended over the skin.

The primer is high on silicones which coats the facial skin with a slippery smooth layer. It gets absorbed really fast and given few minutes to set it gives a velvety smooth feel to the skin which eases up the foundation application process.  Foundation gets applied smoothly and evenly over the primer layer and I didn’t faced any sort of tugging or pulling while blending the foundation into the skin.

Primer acts as a barrier between foundation and skin and prolongs the staying of the foundation. As it keeps the facial oil under control, it prevents foundation from oxidizing on skin which otherwise can make you look much darker than you actual skin tone. Though it really performed well on all these aspects and the foundation looked as fresh as it looked in the m0rning and kept the oil under control and even my T-zone doesn’t turned oily after 7-8 hours of wear but I have to moisturize my skin heavily before applying this primer as it dries down to a slightly matte finish which doesn’t seem to work for my dry skin. It is tad drying for my dry facial skin and accentuate any dry patches on face if applied directly (skipping the moisturization part). It turns flaky on the drier parts of the face like forehead, Hairline and lip corners. It can be a great mattyfying primer for oily skin but not meant to be used by dry skin.

It claims to brighten and illuminate the complexion but I didn’t see much difference to my skin other than smooth finish. Though it doesn’t claim but I would like to mention that I did nothing to cover the slight Redness I have around nose and lip areas.

Cons of NYX Studio Perfect Photo-Loving Primer – Lavender:-

  1. Silicone based primer which might lead to breakout on sensitive skin
  2. Dry skin should be well-moisturized before applying this primer
  3. Turns flaky on dry skin
  4. Doesn’t brighten and illuminate the skin-tone as claimed
  5. Doesn’t conceal redness
  6. Limited availability in India

Recommendation:- NYX Studio Perfect Photo-Loving Primer Lavender has creamy gel kinds texture which spreads easily and performs its basic job of smoother foundation application. Foundation slips nicely over the silky smooth layer it created on the skin due to its rich Silicone content but at the same time Silicones cuts the oxygen supply to your skin and wouldn’t let it breathe which can lead to breakouts. It has a mattyfying finish which might work better on Oily skin but it fails terribly at my dry skin. It turns my skin flaky in absence of heavy moisturization and draws attention to dry patches. It doesn’t live up to my expectations and would recommend dry skin to steer clear of this primer. Not for the dry skin at all!!

Rating:- 3/5
