Hello everyone, Today I will be sharing my first base coat nail enamel, Revlon Colorstay Gel-Smooth Base Coat Nail Enamel in 005. I used to use Lakme 9 to 5 Long wear nail paint in transparent shade as a base coat but wanted to try an actual base and zeroed on to this one.
Product Claims: Start the perfect manicure with Colorstay Nail enamel base coat.
Direction for Use:- Shake gently. Apply 2 coats.
Ingredients:- Ethyl Acetate, Butyl Acetate, Acrylates Copolymer, Isopropyl Alcohol, Dipropylene Glycol Dibenzoate, Methoxyisopropanol, Nitrocellulose, Stearalkonium Bentonite, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil, Ribes Nigrum Seed Oil (Black Currant), Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea Seed Oil, Panthenol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, PPG-2 Dimethicone, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Triacetin, Aliphatic Urethane Acrylate, Bornanedione, Silica, Benzophenone-1, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Violet 2 (CI 60725).

My experience with Revlon Colorstay Gel-Smooth Base Coat Nail Enamel:-
Gel-Smooth Base Coat comes in a sleek round bottle packaging with a long brush applicator. The bristles aren’t fluffly but are flat thinly bunched pack which gives a smooth application.
It looks milky white colored liquid in the bottle but goes completely clear on the nails. The formula is gel-based and I find the liquid slightly thick but it doesn’t come in the way of even application, though it gives a bit thicker coat in one go and don’t feel the need to go for another one. It gets applied really smooth giving a super-glossy shine to the nails without adding any color.
The base coat is here to save nails from yellowing while painting nails with dark shades or it can also be a perfect solution to make you nail paints last longer. I used it under L’Oreal Color Riche Nails paints which used to chip off quite easily but with this on they lasted almost a week with barely any chipping.
Being a clear nail paint it can also be used as a top coat to seal in the shine of regular nail paints and enjoy the long lasting shine with any of the nail paints. If you are not a nail polish person even then u can go for it and can get a naturally glossy looking nails in few strokes.

The only issue with it is that it takes slightly longer to set in completely and if you coat over wet nail paint there is high probability of ending with gloopy nail paint application. So, give it ample time to dry as one dry it will not budge. It may develop impressions just when u thinks it is dry enough so the dry time is pretty long enough.

Recommendation:- Revlon Colorstay Gel-Smooth Base Coat Nail Enamel is clear nail paint which makes the nail polish chip-free when used as base coat and they look beautiful with a fresh glossy finish for days when layered with this nail enamel as top coat. The brush is nice and give a smooth application and my only issue with it is the time it takes to dry and set completely. It worked for me and I am love with its glossy finish
Definitely a must have if you are facing issues of chipping and peeling with your favorite nail paint. I think if u have nail paints in the same shades as Lakme Gel Stylist range but want to buy them only for the glossy finish try this as a top coat and you’ll be impressed!
