My experience with Real Techniques Expert Face brush and Powder Brush:
Real Techniques Expert Face brush and Powder Brush are made of synthetic bristles and almost have a duo fiber bristles. Both the brushes are quite soft and well made. I have been using them for 3 months now and washed multiple time but haven’t experienced any shedding.. so Yayy!
Real Techniques Expert Face brush has densely packed bristles which are tapered from the centre. It is marketed as a foundation buffing brush as it dies a good ob in buffing the foundation into the skin and works wonderfully with cream formulas. Here are few ways how I use this brush
- Foundation Application: I usually use liquid foundations which I dot on my face with fingers but I recently switched to cream foundations and the tapered sides of the brush works nicely to pick up the product from pan and draw stripes around the face.
- Blending/Buffing Foundation: This is the main purpose of the brush and it does an excellent job especially with thick creamy formulas. Start buffing the foundation into the skin by rotating this brush in small circular motions. It takes off the excess product and gives a nice natural looking finish but still good coverage.
- Concealer Application and Blending: Usually a brush used for foundation can’t work for under eye concealer application as they are quite big but this Real Techniques Expert Face brush has a small brush head which makes it an ideal pick for the job. It does a good job at blending the concealer in the under eye area.
- Contouring: Till now I haven’t came across a brush that works as a foundation brush and doubles up as a contour brush too but this Expert Face brush is an exception. It has a tapered tip which fits into hollows of the cheeks makes it a great contouring brush. I have used it with a powder contouring products and have been obsessed with it. If you love defined jaw structure look do give this brush a shot.
- Baking the Under Eye Area: I have a dry skin so I do it that often but if you have an oily skin and using a cream concealer under the eyes, setting it with a powder is a must to avoid creasing and the flat side of this brush could be your perfect partner for the job. Pick the powder from the flat side and place it onto the areas to bake.
- Highlighter Application: I am yet to try it as a highlighter brush but I have a feeling that its tapered tips and densely packed bristles will certainly help with that precise highlighter application on the top of cheekbones.
Real Techniques Powder Brush is a big fluffy brush with loosely packed bristles. The brush is almost double the size of Expert face brush. The brush slightly tapered from the centre but not too much
- Setting Foundation with Powder: The brush is made to work as a powder brush and set the foundation. It works best with a pressed powder because it is a little big for loose powder application.
- Blush Application: I have never imagined that a brush this big can works as a blush brush but I was wrong. I forgot to carry any blush brush with me, so I used this as one and woo.. it did such a fab job. This brush gives the most diffused and blended look with blushes but the key is to use it with sheer powder blushes.
Recommendation: Real Techniques Expert Face brush and Powder Brush are one of the most versatile brushes I have come across. They are synthetic bristles which feel quite soft on skin and delivers great results with makeup application. They are easy on pocket and are of a great quality so will last me years. I love both of these but if I have to pick one it will definitely be the Real Techniques Expert Face brush because it is a multipurpose brush and I haven’t seen any other brush come closer to this one. Highly Recommended!

I've got lots of them but not these two. I'm tempted by the foundation one. It looks dense and soft. What I look for in a foundation brush.
I love my The Body Shop brushes, but the Real Techniques brushes were always in my wishlist. I will be purchasing the Expert Face brush. Nice review,...
I have been using The Bodyshop Powder brush, and love it a lot. Definitely going to try out this face brush soon. Thanks for the review!
I love my RT brushes, They are amazing.
I loved how expert brush can be used for a lot of purposes. The pixy sisters have used it from foundation to contouring. Since they are synthetic bristle brushes they do not transfer other colors that much.
I use expert face brush for everything and I tell you it works awesome with highlighter and blush as well :) I love powder brush as it does the job quickly due to bigger size.. :) Must have brushes by RT to invest in :)
