MUA Make Up Academy Lipstick Nectar, Shade 16 Review, Swatch, LOTD

Hello Everyone, Today I am going to review a lipstick that has been gifted to my by my beautiful blogger friend “Heena” from “Vanity Case Box“. I have a lust towards orange-coral shades and when I saw this on her blog, i added it to my wish list. On the contrary, Heena didn’t liked the shade much and offered it to me.. wooohhoo!! 😀 😀 . Thank you again for this lovely gift Heena.. this has become my first MUA lipstick 🙂 . It took me really long to write this review but better late than never, so let’s find out if MUA Lipstick in Nectar worked for me or not.

Packaging: The  lipstick comes in standard MUA lipstick packaging in a simple black colored round plastic tube. The cap fits snugly with the lipstick base. The best thing about the packaging is the color filled bottom which makes it easy to identify the lipstick shade. The packaging is sturdy and does not look cheap.

My experience with MUA Makeup Academy Lipstick – Nectar:-

Nectar is a bright cool toned orangey coral shade with soft peachy tones and isn’t like those bold orange lip colors. The color needs to be paired with well prepared skin and oodles of Peachy/Coral blush to save the face or you will look pale and sick. The color wouldn’t work for medium-dusky complexion due to lighter undertones and may look washed out but it makes flattering coral lip color for fair skinned ladies.

The lipstick has a creamy texture which slips on lips easily but it doesn’t cover the lips evenly and give slightly patchy application. It’s suggested to prepare lips well before application as the formula may freckle on dry and chapped lips giving a terrible finish. The pigmentation is quite average too and I need at least 2-3 swipes of the lipstick to get an even, opaque coverage on the lips.

The lipstick has a crème finish as the formula is devoid of any shimmers or pearly sheen. The formula isn’t as buttery as Maybelline Moisture Extremes and feels lighter on lips just like lip balms but it transfers like anything and wouldn’t survive meals.

Pros of MUA Makeup Academy Lipstick – Nectar:-

  1. Beautiful Orange-Coral shade
  2. Creamy texture
  3. Glides smoothly on lips
  4. Medium Color pay off
  5. Affordably priced
  6. Tiny pot at the bottom revealing lipstick shade

Cons of MUA Makeup Academy Lipstick – Nectar:-

  1. Isn’t available easily in India
  2. Better finish over exfoliated lips
  3. Need 2-3 swipe for complete coverage
  4. Transfers easily
  5. Doesn’t last long due to its buttery formula

Recommendation:- MUA Makeup Academy Lipstick in Nectar is a pretty orangey coral shade (More orange than pink) which will work nicely with an orangey blush and heavily Kohled or deep smokey eye look perfectly. The formula however isnt great as it doesn’t give smooth finish and need multiple swipes to build color coverage but at this price tag I couldn’t have asked for more.

It is not a must have shade but if you love Orange/coral shade this would make a great lipstick. 🙂

Rating:- 3/5
