Essence Plum No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara Review

Hello Everyone,

If you are on a beauty budget and doesn’t want to invest in mascara but still want those pretty dramatic lashes promised by most of the high-end brands than here is one within budget for you, Essence Plum No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara.

Essence Plump No Clump Mascara Deep Black Look

Product Claims: The name says it all! With an integrated reservoir, the large elastomer brush lays down mega-volume to the base of lashes and then combs through each lash root-to tip, plumping them without any clumping.

Ingredients:- AQUA (WATER), PARAFFIN, GLYCERYL STEARATE, SYNTHETIC BEESWAX, STEARIC ACID, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PALMITIC ACID, POLYBUTENE, ORYZA SATIVA (RICE) BRAN WAX, VP/EICOSENE COPOLYMER, OZOKERITE, AMINOMETHYL PROPANOL, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, STEARYL STEARATE, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, TROPOLONE, PHENOXYETHANOL, CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES).

Price:- $4.99 for 12 ml (Not available online though)

Packaging:- Essence Plum No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara comes in a long, chubby bright sea green colored plastic tube. I got it in the shade deep black but there is another shade black that comes in coral-orange colored tube. The size and length of the tube makes it easy to handle and apply the mascara though it is a little bulky compared to other mascaras.

My experience with Essence Plum No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara:-

Brush: Essence Plum No Clump! Volume Mascara has slightly flexible neck that adjusts on lashes during application making it easy. The brush is quite large and has number of plastic bristles layered vertically to give a fanned out look to lashes. The big brush covers large eye lash area in a single stroke but it’s difficult to reach and coat the smaller lashes on the inner eye corner. The wand comes out with a lot of product on the brush especially at the tips as there is no wiper in the tube to remove excess product while pulling out the wand. So, I have to clean it up the brush with the sides of the tube or with a tissue to avoid messy application

Shade: Deep Black is rich intense black mascara. It is slightly blacker than the L’Oreal Million lashes mascara in ultra black

Formula: Essence Plum No Clump! Volume Mascara has slightly wet creamy-gel like texture which takes sometime to dry down. So make sure that your lashes don’t get in contact with lids or you will see a transfer to the skin. The mascara once dry sets to a smudge proof finish and wont smudge or flake whole day.

Application: The mascara adds a lot of volume and thickness to the lashes in a single coat but needs to be extra careful with 2nd coat to avoid any clumping of lashes. With 2 coats my lashes look richer, thicker and voluminous like super-dramatic*flutter*. The wand is capable of giving a lovely curled effect to the lashes which lasts 5-6 hours.

Staying Power: Essence Plum No Clump! Mascara lasts whole day on me without any fading, smudging or flaking. It doesn’t claim to be water-proof mascara but it did survive the sweat and water splashes well, until touched. Removal takes some time as I need to wash it off, then follow with an oil based cleanser and then again wash off with water to allow the formula come off completely from lashes.

Don’t Miss to Checkout:

Pros of Essence Plum No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara:-

  1. Deep black Mascara
  2. Adds volume and length
  3. Curl lashes during application
  4. Dries to a smudge proof finish
  5. Lasts whole day
  6. Doesn’t flake or makes lashes crunchy
  7. Budget friendly mascara
  8. Lovely packaging

Cons of Essence Plum No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara:-

  1. Brush picks up a lot of amount
  2. No wiper in tube to remove excess product
  3. Difficult to cover smaller lashes
  4. Can get a bit messy when layered
  5. Removal needs some effort

Recommendation:- Essence Plum No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara is dark black mascara with a big spiky brush that adds great volume, thickness and length to the lashes in a single coat. It curls lashes while wiggling out during application and the hold lasts for good 5-6 hours. The formula takes some time to dry down but once it dries it shows no flaking or smudging. It isn’t waterproof mascara but has water-resistant formula as it wears whole day without running down the eyes and survives splashes of water if untouched. Owing to the big brush, quite similar to the L’Oreal Million lashes one it is easy to apply on larger eyes/lashes but if you have hooded eyes, this might not be the best pick. Overall a great affordable mascara for voluminous fanned out long lashes look. Recommended!

The no-wiper thing seems concernable, otherwise the effect it has given to your eyes is remarkable.

hw does it compare to L’Oreal Million lashes mascara. The brush looks similar.

I feel it is quite wet compared to L’oreal Million lashes one which makes it more prone to clumping and messy.

Plus it flakes easily while the Loreal stay strong for longer. Results wise I guess both do pretty much the sam ejob at lengthening and volumising the lashes.

Personally, I like Loreal one better..:)
