Doubts Discussion: How to choose a webhost?

Hello Everyone, Here is another technical query by Amisha.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Which web Hosting to choose

Hi Poo,

Hope you are doing just as well and beautiful, as you look in your posts..

I am here with another query, in fact queries:

1. Now that we’ve decided to get a domain and hosting as well, which is the preferable place to get that? I’ve thought of GoDaddy, but then there are some negative reviews on their service. Which provider are you getting these from? Are you satisfied with their services?

2. If I purchase domain and hosting from one provider, and if ย I am not satisfied, can I move to another provider once these expire after a year, without causing any damage to the blog?

3. We need a multiuser blog. So a wordpress blog, in general, will have these options or there are certain other types of blogs on wordpress (paid ones)?

Thanks a ton for bearing with me..ย

Hey Amisha,

I am glad that the previous thread on which blogging platform to choose helped you pick WordPress as your blogging platform.

The best-web-host for website hosting

  1. I have read a lot about web hosting and came to a conclusion that if your web host is not good, your blog is up for a toss. Yes, this the next very important thing after Blogging Platform. I have heard of HostGator, Bluehost, BigRock, Godaddy and many more which provides the web hosting facility at competitive prices but I wouldย say be careful here and think before choosing any one of them as your Web host.
    • The following are some of the factors that one must consider before picking the web host
      • Uptime (Should be 99% or more)
      • Server capacity/Hardware ( This will help in fast loading of your website/blog)
      • Customer Support (When stuck we should be able to connect with people to help us out)
    • Godaddy might be affordable of all of them but I have quite a lot of negative reviews regarding customer care and more than expected downtime of servers which makes your blog unavailable for that period.
    • HostGator and BlueHost are almost rated equal and after a lot of head banging I decided to go with Hostgator. I must say that I am more than happy with my web hosting company. The servers are up 99.99% of the time and customer support is excellent. I had few issues in the starting as I was struggling to setup and configure my blog but the customer care people were there to help me out whenever and wherever I got stuck. I and more than satified with my web host and will highly recommend HostGator to everyone.. ๐Ÿ™‚

How-to-choose-web-hosting

  1. After web host and blogging platform itโ€™s time to decide where to pick the domain name. I have read about NameCheap.com and few more.
    • I think it doesnโ€™t actually matter from where you buy the domain name. Just search for the one you are looking for and look for the best affordable option to purchase the same.
    • It doesnโ€™t make much of a difference if you buy it from a different company than your web host but I feel it will be a little easy to track it for yearly renewals.
    • I bought mine from Hostgator only, but yes any of the company will do the job, if your desired domain name is available thereโ€ฆ Just make sure it has the option to renew the domain name else you will be lost again after an year or so!

Where to buy Domain Name

  1. Yes, WordPress has the option of multi-user blog with various roles. It like you are the admin and you can grant access to anyone on the blog by approving them as contributor. There is a USERS tab with which you cam manage users and assign roles and access over the blog.

multi-author wordpress blog

Hope this helped .. ๐Ÿ™‚

BTWโ€ฆThanks a tonn for your lovely compliments.. ^_^ ^_^ .. Blushinngg Babyy.. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
