Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color Practical Plum Review

Hello Everyone,

Today I will be reviewing a Sally Hansen Nail Paint after long. It has been almost 2 years that I tried Sally Hansen Nail paints. I bought quite a lott of nail paints from their Xtreme Hard as Nail collection and absolutely loved them. Lets see how this Maximum Growth formula performs on me, Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color Practical Plum.

Packaging:- Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color comes in a curvy glass bottle with a silver metallic handle. The bottle has a long neck and a super long and thin brush which gives an easy and smooth application. If you really like to dig in the ingredients list it is mentioned at the back of the bottle 😛

My experience with Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color- Practical Plum:-

Shade: Practical Plum is medium orange toned plumy-pink shade with finely milled shimmers in similar color providing a pearly metallic finish to the shade. I didn’t quite liked the shade in the bottle but it looked better when applied.

Formula: The formula is thin and has runny consistency. It goes sheer in a single swipe and requires at least 3-4 swipes to show up well. It doesn’t give that absolute opaque coverage and I can see my nail beds peeking through the color.

Application: The brush is long and thin which picks up the formula nicely giving a streak-free application but I have to dip it in the bottle again and again for building up the color. It doesn’t get clumpy or squishy even after multiple coats owing to its thin formula.

Dry Time: The dry time is slightly higher than the average as with 3-4 coats it takes 2-3 minutes to dry down completely. If applied thick coats it will take even more time to settle completely.

Finish: The polish dries to a slightly glossy crème finish and the pearly sheen adds on to the shine but the shine does fade away in 2-3 days, so need to seal it with a top coat

Staying Power: The formula doesn’t last longer than any of the usual nail paints and I can see it fading from the tips within 2-3 days. Also, when layered heavily for opaque coverage it does start chipping in 2 days.

I really can’t comment on nail growth claims as I don’t observe them so closely 😛

Pros of Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color Practical Plum:-

  1. Applies smooth
  2. Gives an even application
  3. Pearly metallic sheen
  4. Streak-free finish
  5. Contains Vitamin A,C,E and Soy protein
  6. Claims to grow nails faster

Cons of Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color Practical Plum:-

  1. Sheer coverage
  2. Takes 2-3 minutes to dry
  3. Doesn’t last more than average on nails
  4. Pricier than most of the drugstore nail paints

Recommendation:- Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Plus Nourishing Nail Color Practical Plum is pinkish plum shade with orangey-red undertones in a pearly metallic finish. The polish has a runny consistency which applies smoothly but it goes quite sheer and needs to be built up with 3-4 coats for a good coverage. It takes some time to dry down and lasts for an average of 3-4 days on me. I am really not impressed with the formula nor did I enjoy the shade much.
